Cuts at Starbucks: The Company Is Laying Off Nearly 300 Employees in the US

Starbucks states that it is going to lay off close to 300 employees in the US (nearly 3% of its support staff in America). The move is part of the company’s strategy called “Back to Starbucks,” through which management aims to reduce costs, simplify the organisation, and steer the business toward sustainable and profitable growth.

The company stated that its managers carefully reviewed their functions in order to “sharpen focus,” set operational priorities, and reduce organisational complexity. “As a result, we are eliminating approximately 300 support positions in the US,” Starbucks announced.

The company is also reviewing its international support organisation, as it seeks to focus on its role as a “global licensor.” As a result, additional job impacts are expected outside the US as well.

The announcement also confirmed that Starbucks will close some of its regional support offices. This is part of broader operational changes at the company, which has been working in recent times to improve efficiency and profitability.
