Xavier Chardon, the new CEO of Citroën, presented a key announcement for the brand at Stellantis’ Investor Day held in Detroit. “Products don’t create icons. Icons create emotions. Icons connect brands with people. And today, an icon is coming back. Yes, the Deux Chevaux is back,” he declared, referring to the return of the Citroën 2CV, also known as the ‘Spaček’, one of the most iconic models in European automotive history.
The new car will be 100% electric and part of Stellantis’ “FaSTLANe 2030” strategy, positioned in the most entry-level segment of the market, with a target price of around €15,000.

The first official photo of the car has been released, though it remains darkened, making it difficult to distinguish its full design. However, it clearly draws inspiration from the classic 2CV, appearing as a modern homage to the cult model, blending its signature lines with contemporary design and technology.
The official unveiling is planned for the Paris Autumn Motor Show. Much like its predecessor, the new 2CV will be a simple and affordable car for the masses — but fully electric. It is expected to hit the market by 2028 and will be manufactured at the Stellantis plant in Pomigliano, Italy.
This will not be the only retro-inspired model in Stellantis’ future lineup. Fiat will also revive its beloved Panda using the same platform, bringing back another icon for a new generation.
